Erdelyi, Arrieta Pace Invitational XC Runners

Each Wins Race by Large Margin

Fullerton, Calif. - Zsofia Erdelyi of USC and Joshua Arrieta competing unattached ran to convincing victories Friday evening in the Titan Invitational Cross Country Meet at Cal State Fullerton.

Erdelyi, from Hungary, ran the women's 5K course around the Titan Sports Complex in 17:36 to beat runnerup Jenni Johnson of Cal Coast by 18 seconds. Arrieta ran the men's 8K course in 24:48, beating runnerup Anthony Masci, also unattached, by 14 seconds.

In limited team scoring, UC Irvine won the men's competition and Cal Coast won the women's side. Trailing UCI were Loyola Marymount and the University of San Diego. Women's teams trailing Cal Coast were USC, UCI and San Diego.

Host Cal State Fullerton entered only two women and one man as the regulars are in training for the Oct. 31 Big West Conference championships at UC Riverside.
