Fullerton, Calif. - UCLA's men's team and the women from Orange Coast College were the collegiate winners while unattached Chris Ashley and Cal Coast Track Club's Julie Swail were the individual winners in Friday afternoon's 2007 Titan Cross Country Invitational on the Cal State Fullerton campus. The Bruins had the first five male collegiate finishers for a perfect score of 15 to easily outdistance UC Irvine. Spencer Knight led the UCLA pack at 25:03 for second place behind Ashley in the 8K race. Laura Meyers of USC finished fourth in 18:08 to lead the collegiate women. Cassie Mitchell placed eighth to lead the OCC contingent in a 5K time of 18:42. Cal State Fullerton did not enter enough men to have a team score but the Titan women ran third led by Erin Griffith in 16th place overall in a time of 19:05. The top Titan male was Tim Shamada in 30th place in a time of 27:50. The Titans Invitational annually serves as a "final test" for collegiate runners trying to make the roster for their respective conference championships. Fullerton runs in the Big West Conference Championships Oct. 27 in San Luis Obispo. Complete results below and they also will be posted on Flash Results West.com sometime Saturday evening. |
