Handa Leads Titans at Stanford

Sept. 27, 2008

Palo Alto, Calif. - Brent Handa, Jeff Mackay and Joey Divizia ran one-two-three for the Titans as they placed 16th Saturday evening at the Stanford Invitational Cross Country meet.

Handa placed 48th overall in a time of 25:52. Mackay was 68th in 26:17 and Divizia ran 85th in 26:34. Rounding out the Titans' scoring were Eddie Perez (27:04) in 109th and Phillip Brown (27:18) in 118th place.

"We placed in the middle of the pack which was a step forward from our meet two weeks ago in San Diego," said CSF Head Coach John Elders. "We were closer to our Big West competitors. I thought Brent ran his best cross country race as a Titan and Mackay did a nice job and Joey did, too.

"It was a positive thing and now we have three weeks until our next meet and hopefully we will keep closing the gap."

Stanford won both men's and women's competition. Only the Fullerton men competed in Palo Alto, where the Big West also was represented by UC Santa Barbara in fifth, UC Davis was seventh, UC Irvine was eighth and Long Beach State was ninth.
