Sept. 18, 2010
The men placed fifth behind BYU, UCR, Sacramento State and Loyola Marymount while the women, who had only five runners, placed tenth.
Carrell ran 21st overall and 16th among collegians in 24:53. Munoz was 26th overall and 25th among collegians in 17:36. Arkansas won the women's team title.
"It was a breakthrough performance for the men," said Head Coach John Elders. "The men did a great job of improvement over last year's meet at Riverside.
"The women had only five runners due to injuries including shin splints for Grace Gonzalez, who should be ready to go to Oklahoma next week. They competed well. Yomaira Hernandez got caught in the pack and had a difficult time catching up.
"Lexie Bravo, a sophomore transfer from UNLV, ran 47 seconds better than laat year's mark for UNLV. Gail improved 34 seconds and led the way.
"This meet showed up a lot of optimism for the men."
