Gonzales Earns Big West Weekly Award

Irvine, Calif. - Sophomore Grace Gonzales has been selected the female Cross Country Runner of the Week by the Big West Conference.

The product of Ayala High School in Chino finished fifth in the Aztec Invitational Saturday in San Diego, leading her Cal State Fullerton team to a tenth-place showing. She covered the 5K course in 17:50 to lead all other Big West competitors. It was her first race of the 2008 cross country season.

UC Irvine's Nick Mosey won the male award after winning the Asics/UCI Invitational on Sept. 6.
