Northride, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton had what Head Coach John Elders called its best cross country meet of the year Saturday at the Cal State Northridge Invitational.
The women finished second to UC Riverside and the men were third behind UC Santa Barbara and UCR.
"The meet was closely contested among three teams in both genders," said Eldrs. "It was our best meet of the year for both groups.
"We're geteting better every week and I'm excited with our progress this week. It was a good confidence builder."
The trio of Gail Munoz, Yomaira Hernandez and Lauren McIntyre ran sixth, sevnth and eighth to lead the Titan women over the 6K course. Grace Gonzalez (15th) and Lexie Bravor (22nd) completed the Titan scoring.
"It's great to see the progress Grace is making," said Elders. "After a year off, she is getting her racing legs back. And Lexie is starting to get back to normal. She was ill and missed the meet in Oklahoma a couple of weeks ago."
"The men were not at 100 percent because of a couple of colds," said Elders. "They could be even better. We competed well with UCSB and UCR and this sets us up to improve our standing in the Big West Conference meet."
Fullerton hosts its own on-campus next Friday and then travels to Riverside for the Big West meet on Oct. 30.
