Results

Fullerton, Calif. - Azusa Pacific's Abednego Magut and Jacky Kipwambok were the individual winners and the Cougars and Cal Poly Pomona captured team honors Saturday evening at the annual Cal State Fullerton Season Opener Cross Country meet run for the first time on the Fullerton Municipal Golf Course.

Magut covered the 4-lap, 8K men's course in 25:06.20 to win by almost a minute over runnerup Josh Arrietta, running unattached. Kipwambok ran the 3-lap 6K women's race in 21:24.20 for a 19-second advantage over unattached runnerup Vivien Wadeck.

Azusa Pacific won the women's team results with 53 points to finish ahead of Long Beach State (65) and Glendale College (93). Host Fullerton ran sixth led by Lauren Jacobs in 22nd scoring place in 23:57.20.

Cal Poly Pomona won the men's team result with 69 points to edge Long Beach State (79) and the host Titans (94). Pomona's best finisher was third-place Jersain Torres. Fullerton was led by Tyler Reed in fifth scoring place in a time of 26:22.30.

There were 19 men's teams and 26 women's teams competing.
