FULLERTON, Calif. – Head coach John Elders announced the Cal State Fullerton men's and women's cross country schedule on Wednesday.
The season begins on Sept. 1 for the Titans by hosting the Mark Covert Classic at the Carbon Canyon Regional Park in Brea, Calif.
The Titans then compete at UC Santa Barbara's Lagoon Course on Sept. 15 before heading to the Roy Griak Invite in St. Paul, Minn. That meet on Sept. 29 is one of the most prestigious meets in collegiate cross country and will feature the top teams in the nation. For the student-athletes that don't go to Roy Griak, they will compete at the Mustang Challenge in Santa Clarita. Fullerton then heads to Riverside for the UCR Highlander Invite on Oct. 13.
On Oct. 19, the squad will host the Titan Invite in a race that is designed to run through the Cal State Fullerton campus.
To begin championship season, CSF will once again return to Carbon Canyon Regional Park to host the Big West Championships on Oct. 27.
Elders and the squads then head to Sacramento for the NCAA West Regionals at Haggin Oaks Golf Course in Sacramento on Nov. 9. Should any individual student-athletes or teams qualify, the NCAA Championships will be held on Nov. 17 at Thomas Zimmer Championships Course in Madison, Wisc.
In 2017, both the men's and women's teams earned third-place finishes at the Big West Championships. The women taking third was the best team finish since 1992. Sophomore Samantha Huerta's fourth-place finish in the 6,000-meter race led the way for the women's squad while junior Sam Pimentel took 14th place in the 8K as the leader of the men's team.
At the NCAA West Regional, the men took 19th place and the women finished in 17th at the NCAA West Regional in Seattle.
