Relay Teams Run Well at Regionals

Provo, Utah - Both Cal State Fullerton relay teams ran well but were unable to qualify for the national championship meet with their performances Saturday at the NCAA West Region Track and Field Championships at Brigham Young.

The men's 4x100 team of John Bolton, Marques Barosso, Jon Pratter and Chris Epstein ran fifth in a time of 40.70 on a cool afternoon in Provo. USC won the race. On the women's side, the 4x400 team of Kimiah Hudson, Nancy Blake, Kandace Wilson and Destany Cearley finished sixth in 3:42.21 to score three points and put the Titans in 25th place after 19 events.

Barosso ran seventh in the men's 200 meters in 21.29. Matt Turner tied for eleventh in the high jump at 6-foot-9 and will likely get an at-large bid to go to nationals where he also will compete in the long jump after finishing fifth on Friday.

Kelly MacLean failed to clear the opening height in the women's pole vault and Lacey Welborn finished 18th in the women's triple jump with a best of 38 feet, 4 1/4 inches.

The men were in 13th place with 13 points after 19 events. Turner scored 4 points with his fifth-place finish in the long jump on Friday and Aaron Williams added 3 by placing sixth. Barosso got 2 points in the 200 and the men's relay team added 4 points.
