Short Again BWC's Best

May 18, 2011

Irvine, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton senior Ciara Short today won her second Big West Conference Female Track Athlete of the Year Award in balloting of the conference's eight coaches.

Short, from San Diego's Madison High School, became the first Titan female to ever win the award last year. She and sprinter/jumper Brandon Campbell, the Male Athlete of the Year in 2001, are the only Titans to capture the awards.

Short defended her Big West titles last weekend in the 200 and 400 meters and helped Fullerton capture first place in a relay (4x100) for the first time. She holds five individual and two relay school records and was the first Titan to compete in the NCAA Indoor Finals in February.

She will next compete in the NCAA Regionals in Eugene, Oregon, beginning May 26.
