Lauren Williams Breaks Own Hurdles Mark

Eagle Rock, Calif. - Lauren Williams broke her own school record in the 100 meter hurdles and ran a personal best in the 200 meters to top Cal State Fullerton's efforts at the Occidental Invitational Track and Field Meet Saturday in Eagle Rock.

Williams ran third in the hurdles event in 13.54, besting her record of 13.67 set earlier this season. In the 200, she ran 24.64.

The Titans had a No. 1-2 finish in the women's shot put. Jameena Hunt won the event with a best effort of 45 feet, 6 1/2 inches. Runnerup was the Titans' Losa Akauola at 43 feet, 8 inches.

Andrew Sullivan tied his personal best in the men's pole vault with a jump of 16 feet, 6 3/4 inches. Laron Brown, who is an NCAA qualifier in the high jump, just missed qualifying in the long jump with a best mark of 23 feet, 11 inches to take second in his flight.

The Titans got some last-ditch Big West Conference qualifying efforts. Ginny English cleared 11 feet, 1 3/4 inches to give the Titans five women's pole vaulters in next week's Big West Championships. And in the men's 800, Alex Hageman qualified with a time of 1:54.80 while Erik Estrada ran a personal best 1:53.09.

"It was a good tune up meet for us," said Head Coach John Elders. "We also got some other key people rested."
