Titan Women Shine in Rain-Plagued Brown Meet

The women's team had an impressive day for Cal State Fullerton at the weather-affected Ben Brown Invitational Track and Field Meet Saturday at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut.

With soccer players Kandace Wilson and Karen Bardsley leading the way, the Titans took several high places around rain, hail and high winds that cancelled some events.

Wilson finished first in the second section of the women's 400 meters in a time of 57.67, which was fourth best overall. Bardsley, the Titans' start goalkeeper new to the javelin, placed second with a toss of 117-2.

Capturing victories for Fullerton were Antonia Vega in the 100 (12.43) and Lacey Welborn in the triple jump (37-10 3/4) as well as the 4x100 relay team (48.10). Finishing in second place along with Bardsley were Destany Cearley in the 400 hurdles (62.53), Juliana Masciana in the 3000 steeplechase (11:35.9), Welborn in the long jump (16-10 3/4) and the 4x400 relay team (3:51.14).

On the men's side, Matt Turner and Garrett Myers were the standouts. Turner took a pair of third places despite his specialty of the high jump being cancelled. He ran 14.93 in the 110 hurdles and went 22-9 1/4 in the long jump. Myers won the triple jump (46-4) and was second in the long jump (29 9 3/4). Marques Barosso ran second in the 200 (22.28) and the 4x100 relay team was second.
