AUSTIN, Texas --- The Cal State Fullerton outdoor track and field season came to a close on Saturday at the NCAA West Preliminary at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
The Titans failed to advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., in the 11 events they competed in over the weekend.
On Saturday, junior Anthony Applequist placed 28th in the triple jump with a mark of 50'4.75" (15.36m).
In the women's triple jump, senior Ty'Jalayah placed 40th with a mark of 39'6" (12.04m), while Big West champion Laura Hamann failed to place after fouling on each of her three attempts.
In the men's 4x100-meter relay, the two-time defending Big West Conference champions were unable to finish.
The 2017 outdoor track and field season was highlighted by Cal State Fullerton winning its first ever Big West Conference Men's title as the Titans hosted the league championship at Titan Track Complex for the first time since 1999.
In addition, head coach John Elders was named the Big West Conference Men's Coach of the Year for the first time in his 29-year career, while senior Darion Zimmerman became the first Titan named Big West Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Year.
Furthermore, the Titans set seven new school records during the outdoor season, while the team totaled six Big West Athlete of the Week honors during the year.
