FULLERTON, Calif. – The men's and women's outdoor track and field team saw four different winners while Trevor Gorwin set a new school record in the hammer throw in the Titans' final home meet of the season at Titan Track on Saturday.
The Titans honored 17 seniors who competed in their final home meet of their careers in the five-way meet with NAU, CSUN, Fresno State and UCR.
Sophomore thrower Trevor Gorwin broke the school record in the hammer throw with his distance of 58.11m, shattering the previous record that has remained unbroken for nearly a decade.
Gorwin also had a season best in the shot put with his throw of 16.72m, good for third overall.
Darion Zimmerman finished first overall in the 400m run with his time of 47.23, while the women's 4x400m relay team comprised of Morgan Love, Alexandria Stewart, India Owens and Elizabeth Claustro also finished first with their time of 3:45.19.
The Titans' saw their last two event winners in the women's triple jump with Laura Hamann finishing with a distance of 11.69m and the women's high jump with Adrianna Reagan jumping a distance of 1.60m.
In addition to the first place finishes, multiple Titans set new personal records in their final home meet of the season.
Starting off with the men, Jacob Ruiz and Mason Guzman-Sanchez set new personal records in the pole vault and 110m high hurdles, respectively. Ruiz set a new record of 4.95m, finishing second overall, while Guzman-Sanchez ran a 14.52 in the 110m hurdles, good for third overall.
The women saw vast improvements as four Titans set new personal records in their respective events, including Elizabeth Claustro and Alexandria Stewart who set new personal bests in the 400m run with their times of 56.20 and 57.26, respectively.
Claustro also set a new personal record in the 200m with her time of 24.95 while also running the anchor leg in the come from behind win in the 4x400m relay.
India Owens and Alexis Stewart also recorded new personal bests in the 400m hurdles and the 100m dash with their times of 60.68 and 11.95, respectively.
The Titans return to the track next Friday and Saturday to compete at the Big West Combined Events and the OXY Invitational.
