FULLERTON, Calif. - The Titans saw multiple strong performances including a first place finish from freshman Darion Zimmerman in the 400 meter dash to finish the weekend at the UCLA Legends Invitational this Friday and Saturday.
Zimmerman was the only Titan to come home with a first place finish with his time of 47.50, while four additional Titans also dished out a pair of second place and a pair of third place finishes.
Proud of the strong performances from his squad, head coach John Elders said, "We rested several key athletes this weekend, but still had some very strong performances. Overall it was a positive weekend for both squads."
The duo of freshman Stephanie Cortez and sophomore Eli Penick both brought home second place finishes in the 1,500 meter run and 100 meter dash, respectively. Cortez set a new personal record with her time of 4:44.35 while Penick matched his season-best with his time of 10.59.
Hernandez Jr.'s performance is a squad season-best with his time of 1:51.30 while Parsons' throw of 55.21m is also a personal best.
Parsons' also set a new personal record in the shot put with his throw of 14.59m.
The Titans also saw new personal records set in a variety of categories to round out the strong showings this weekend.
India Owens set a new personal record in the 100m hurdles with her time of 14.48 while Tommy Medina also set a new personal record in the 400m with his time of 48.88.
Laura Hamann also set a new personal record in the triple jump with her performance of 11.61m.
The Titans continue their season this weekend as they host the Big West Challenge at the Titan Track.
"After a positive weekend, we're looking forward to the Big West Challenge at home on Friday," said Elders.
