FULLERTON, Calif.—The Cal State Fullerton Track and Field team gets back to work this weekend, as it'll compete in the 19th annual Steve Scott Invitational this Saturday and Sunday.
The Titans will send their full squad and will be represented in 34 different events, as the meet will get under way with the women's hammer throw at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Amanda Mercado will represent Fullerton in that event, as she's coming off a season-best performance (159-02) last week at the Beach Invite.
Track events will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday with the women's 5000-meter. The meet will then resume again on Sunday with both the track and field events beginning at noon. Things will conclude with the men's 4x400 relay at approximately 5:10 p.m. Sunday.
Fullerton Athletes to Watch
Bryan Luther: Will compete in the 100 and 200-meter dash. His time of 10.65 in the 100-meter ranks fifth in the league while his 21.44 200-meter time is a Big West best.
Javon May: Will compete in the 400-meter hurdles. His time of 52.22 currently ranks third in the Big West.
Thomas Grimes: Looks to improve on a 6.95m long jump performance last week at the Beach Invite. He's currently ranked ninth in the conference.
Ashley Sims: Will compete in the 100-meter and 200-meter dash. She ranks third in the Big West in the 100-meter (11.76) and fourth in the 200-meter (24.18).
Katie Wilson: Will compete in the 200 and 400-meter runs. Her time of 54.91 in the 400-meter ranks fourth in the conference.
Deena Pierce: Will compete in the 100 and 400-meter hurdles. Her time of 13.87 in the 100-meter hurdles is good for second in the conference and her time of 1:01.74 in the 400-meter hurdles is sixth best in the Big West.
Jasmyne Davis: Will compete in both the long jump and triple jump. Her leap of 11.80m in the triple jump is sixth best in the Big West.
