Fullerton, Calif. - The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) at Cal State Fullerton conducts its fifth annual Children's Holiday Party Thursday night (Dec. 8) for Crittenton Services for Children and Families in Fullerton.
The SAAC has been active on the campus and in the community for many years. The group is comprised of two student-athlete representatives from each of the Titans' 17 intercollegiate sports. Every semester they organize functions to get student-athletes more involved in the community and the holiday party is always the focal project of the year.
The Crittenton houses help strengthen families (birth, foster, and adoptive), and give homes to abused and neglected children. Most importantly, they provide a variety of treatment services for the children including: sexual abuse treatment, anger management, assertion skills, early substance abuse prevention, counseling center and an on-grounds park for recreational and outdoor activities.
This year's Children's Holiday Party will benefit a record setting number of children. Toys are being supplied through generous donations from each Cal State Fullerton team, athletics administration and from the public (toys were collected at a recent men's basketball game).
More than 20 Titan student-athletes will spend the entire evening with the children; opening gifts, eating, talking and playing in the playground. Food is being donated by Mikey's Sports Bar (3159 Yorba Linda Boulevard, Fullerton, 92831 / 714-528-9150).
For more information or to make a cash donation, please contact Pamela A. Jones-Tintle, Director of Development, Athletics, at 714-278-4407 or email@example.com.
