Former CSF AD Dies

Elkhorn, ID - Dr. John Caine, who was director of athletics at Cal State Fullerton from 1968 to 1972, passed away July 9 at his home in Idaho at the age of 85.
Dr. Caine was at the helm when the Titans launched their football program in 1970. He left Fullerton for a similar post at San Jose State and later served in the same capacity at Oregon and UC Irvine.
A former college basketball player, he transferred from Louisville to UCLA where he was a redshirt on Coach John Wooden's first Bruin team. He coached high school and college basketball for 16 years before becoming the first athletic director with that title at Fullerton.
