Fullerton, Calif. - Former Cal State Fullerton wrestler Andre Gonzalez was killed early Monday morning in a one-car accident on Highway 133 in south Orange County.

Gonzalez, 22, a senior from San Jose, was due to graduate next month with a degree in kinesiology.

Gonzalez was captain of the 2010-11 squad, which was disbanded at the end of the season when the program was terminated. He was a durable 125-pounder for four seasons, compiling an overall record of 66-65. As a junior in 2009-10 he was 22-13 and placed fourth in the Pac-10 Championships, earning a berth into the NCAA Championships.

He was a four-year letterman and three-time league champion in wrestling at Silver Creek High School in San Jose. He also lettered two seasons in cross country.

He is survived by his parents, Juan and Patricia, and two younger sisters, Marissa and Savannah.
