Daniel Valles joined the Cal State Fullerton Sports Media office in 2005, tasked with overseeing the recording and live streaming of home athletic events for men’s and women’s soccer, volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball and softball.
The Titans host between 120-150 athletic events on campus each year, and Valles has been in attendance for nearly all of them over the last 10 years.
He manages a student and part-time staff to assist with camera operation as Cal State Fullerton has become one of the Big West Conference’s leaders in live streaming access to fans.
Valles was introduced to the athletic department through his younger brother Eric, a student manager for the men’s basketball team at the time of the conference’s video implementation.
A 2007 graduate of Cal State Fullerton with a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering, Valles attended Fullerton Junior College for two years before transferring.
Valles graduated from Servite High School in 2001, and was a devoted guitar player while also spending his time writing code in visual basic and assisting with audio/visual rehearsals in the theater.
He is an avid runner, competing in seven marathons and nearly 36 half-marathons all over the West Coast. He also enjoys mountain biking and visiting Mammoth Lakes, Calif.
Valles joins the majority of his family who also work in the sports and entertainment field. His aunt was the Director of Human Resources for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim for 18 years, while his mother has worked for the Angels and Anaheim Ducks since 1996 with championship rings from both organizations.
Valles’ brother Eric and his wife Ana both work for the Miami Heat, while his brother Martin and his wife Loren work for E! News. Valles’ sister Jamie and her husband A.J. work for Quiksilver.
