TITAN ACADEMIC SUCCESS PROGRAM

CHAMPS/Life Skills
California State University, Fullerton is part of a program developed by the NCAA Student Athlete Affairs to help student athletes gain life skills that bridge the gap from the transition into college to the transition into a career. Throughout the process of education student-athletes are becoming more well rounded students.
The CHAMPS/Life Skills program is comprised of five key commitments that address critical areas of personal development:
Academic excellence - This can be achieved by excelling in co-curricular activities. Academic Excellence is accomplished by more than receiving good grades in class but rather maximizing you learning abilities for the community service to others as well.
Athletic excellence - This area is not only succeeding during competition, it is also the sportsmanship you present during play. Outstanding athletes capture both individual feats as well as provide leadership to their respective teammates.
Career development - Career development is obtained by achieving all of the other components of the CHAMPS/Life skills program. It starts with the student-student athlete taking initiative to succeed in the class as well as show they are preparing for their careers as well. Utilizing resources and getting involved are excellent avenues for career development.
Personal development - Personal development is pertinent to providing students a holistic educational experience and enhancing the well being of others. Some areas of development can be obtained by participating in guest speaker programs, helping others become a better student through mentorships, or articulating the material from your university 100 course
Service - Community service involvement is important for student-athletes. They are role models to the campus as well as the community. Each team participates in service programs throughout the academic year that enable students to engage in such activities.
